From Mark. I enjoyed watching your video with the diaphragm and carburetor gasket replacement. At this time, I have my sister's mower at my place for the exact same repair. The B&S engine (10T802) runs groovy for about 2 years and will promptly blow another gasket. I tried another carburetor and there was no alter in the end upshot. Now I purchase the carburetor parts in bulk for my sisters mower and a Series 300 B&South engine that I have. All-time Regards From KY. Cheers.

I have same briggs and Stratton engine in my Mountfield empress sixteen and had changed the carburettor gaskets simply bankrupt my leg and shattered human knee cap and so had a delay finishing the projection and when I came dorsum to cease upwards for the life of me I couldn't recollect which mode the springs went back on. Really should have taken a picture but didn't anticipate starting the job 1 spring and having to finish information technology the next one lol.

I e'er clean and blow everything off with air gun "before" I take everything apart. That way all that dirt doesn't get in the carb or engine etc. (that'south just how I am- it bothers some people) Also then much easier to work on from that point.
Thanks for this excellent video for both cleaning upward the carburetor and replacing the gaskets to fit it back onto the fuel tank. Non but are your instructions clear only you have a squeamish delivery that instills confidence that information technology will work. The effect for me today was exactly that. The 4.5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine runs without surging anymore and my wife will probably stop expecting me to fix that paw lawn mower she brought back from the garage sale.

Only I noticed that in my opinion in that location is an error when you mount the carburettor with a costless oring seal on the intake pipe !! I believe this must be mounted first on the carburetor with the ring of pastica that blocks information technology and only after inserting it in the intake pipe !! Otherwise this would not fit well past not closing and allowing the engine to suck in outside air. Only things I'd like to add is that I've had much better results with the life of an air filter (cream type) when I employ filter oil on it after I've thoroughly cleaned it.
Also, yous didn't accost the jets. Cleaning the main jet is imperative to a polish running engine. Practiced video though!

The short tube on lesser of carb is the main jet . So , make sure it's cleaned out every bit well .
Just a couple of tips, I but always use warm water and lather to launder out the air filters. And to get a proper seal take the o band and retainer and insert them in your carburettor before putting information technology back on the mower.

A couple of things to notation, the o ring on the carb should exist fitted to the carb and clipped in place before it is put back on the mower. Also, if y'all put the black sump breather piping on the carb before putting it back on the mower, it makes life easier.

I have other small engine equipment like honda, etc. But briggs and Stratton has always been the problem starting. I put fuel additives, fresh gasoline with stabilizer and run information technology regularly and yet a pain!
Very grateful for you sharing your noesis. Mower runs a min or 2 & dies, primer bulb sucked in. New parts, reworked, at present leaking petro. Could information technology be the gasket or o ring non sitting right ? I'm hoping. Gonna redo it tmrw.

Cheers mate, appreciate that, run my 450 for ten years and its starting to splutter so need to service information technology. I'm not a mechanic merely cheers to your video, I'm going to service it my self, carb service, oil modify and sharpen the blade. Just ordered parts online and cost me less than £25. Got an estimate for a service an it was £135. What a joke. It's a footling backyard mover not a car. An 60 minutes on youtube and a bit of research and something to do next weekend. I go along clean tanks and carbs assembled in ziploc numberless merely for these engines. Takes less than 5 minutes to just swap out and rebuild other 1 in spare time

I stumbled beyond your video looking to service a mower i bought off ebay. The oil dipstick screw wouldnt plough and the whle thing came out! (fixing screws were missing) managed to twist cap open, lubricated it a flake, put it back in and put 2 replacement screws (finally my collection of odd screws has come up in handy) so the dipstick unit is now fixed and cap can now be turned and oil checked. quiet proud of my cocky! I detest DIY because something always goes wrong!! I fifty-fifty managed to make clean the Air filter!! and so now feeling confident I searched youtube and came across your video, and at present later on watchng it i feel confident enough to tackle a unproblematic service !! (at this rate i'm going to put my local lawnmower repair store out of business!!!)

Hi, I have the same carb in my troy built washer but my issue is that it surges. I took autonomously the carb and everything looked cracking and make clean what practice you recall the upshot could be? Information technology smokes lightly and burns gas likewise fast. I took off the air filter to see if that was the issue but information technology keeps surging.

If anyone has this engine and it surges and wont run smooth and right, these plastic carburetors warp on the engine side mounting surface and either have to be replaced or you can sand that mounting side down as flat as possible and add SEAL ALL Sealant or a PERMATEX gas resistant sealant to the machined surfaces when putting a new gasket on and a tiny smear on the gaskets also. SEAL ALL ealant >>(resistant to gasoline, oil, paint thinner, and most solvents. Seal-All is as well h2o resistant immediately upon application
Sets in 2-three minutes. Fully cures in 2-six hours)
I learned a lot. Other videos go far looks like you had to have a mechanical instruction degree. Thanks.

That O ring and white plastic neckband goes in the carb first .The O ring first and then the plastic collar which is an interference fit in the carb .It will suck air in the incorrect place like that

I replaced my carborator, but I think it's actually something to do with the governor that'south not working, so I need to dismantle a lot more parts than only the uncomplicated carb replacement. If y'all're looking direct at the carburetor with the gas filler cap on your left, when I press the primer bulb gas will come out of a little hole to the left of the bulb. Is this normal? No return line should be connected to it going to the tank?

Mine is a Rover mower with the Briggs engine.....when I watched this video I noticed that the diaphragm on yours doesn't take the pump linkage to a butterfly flapper in the intake tube that mine has.....perchance mine is an old model ..........I got it in the early ninety'south, still running.....your carb is a much simpler model than the 6 screw carb model that mine has.......mine besides doesn't have the primer bulb for like shooting fish in a barrel starting.

  @Rose's Allotment Adventures This was my 1st time just looked at the manual as well. later on cleaning the oil which should be in it already. just utilize any engine oil, i just poured some on each end and clasp it in. Probably the size of a Britain 2p on the big end and just a lilliputian on the end with the hole in. Call back it's just another barrier for dirt and dust

I live in Melbourne Australia north I have same engine briggs & stratton 4 stroke 148cc engine , but here they brand in Australia n they call the brand name Victa, model Vintage, 450 series, blue colour chassis/torso but I believe engines r import from USA n my lawnmower has the same petrol thank n carburetor on your this video has.
